Sun Wukong is a literary and religious figure. Chinese novel journey to the west described him as main characters in the 16th century. He is also known as ‘MONKEY KING’. Sun Wukong is a monkey that born from a stone. Who acquires a special powers that make him a extra-ordinary monkey than others. After rebelling against heaven, he is imprisoned under a mountain by the Buddha. He is skilled fighter, capable of defeating the best warriors of heaven.

As king of the monkeys, so he needed to protect the every monkey. Sun Wukong acquires the 72 Earthly Transformations, which allowed him to access 72 unique powers, including the ability to transform into animals and objects. He is capable of defeating any enemy. His has power of coping himself or transforming into various weapons,animals and other things using his hair. he has ability to become invisible.

In ancient times, a magical rock lay atop Mount Huagou. One day, something brushed against the rock, causing a fully-formed monkey to emerge from it. Though newly born, the young monkey could already walk and speak. When Wukong opened his eyes, golden beams of light radiated from his pupils, piercing through the clouds and startling the Jade Emperor. When the Jade Emperor sought the source of the unusual light, all he could see was a baby monkey.

Chinese Novel – Journey To The West

For 500 years, Wukong remained trapped beneath Buddha’s mountain. Eventually, a wandering monk named Tang Sanzang discovered the imprisoned Monkey King and offered to release him if he agreed to repent and become his disciple.

Initially, Sun Wukong refused the monk’s proposal, unwilling to serve anyone, especially a mere human. However, as Tang began to depart, Wukong quickly changed his stance, agreeing to serve the monk in exchange for his freedom.

Before Tang could release Wukong, the goddess of mercy Guanyin gave him a magical band that would allow him to control the Monkey King. Once freed from the mountain’s weight, Sun Wukong joined Tang’s other demonic companions: Zhu Bajie, known as “Piggy,” and Sha Wujing, called “Sandy.”

The Jade Emperor dispatched a battalion of soldiers to apprehend Wukong for his insolence, but they proved to be no match for him. After defeating the last soldier, the Monkey King shouted triumphantly, “Remember my name: Great Sage Equal to Heaven, Sun Wukong!”

Culture

While he’s not widely worshiped by Buddhist and Taoist practitioners, Sun Wukong is a significant Chinese cultural figure and has been featured in numerous TV series, movies, and plays.

Journey to the West has seen numerous film adaptations, including a notable remake in 2013 by Chinese film director and actor Stephen Chow. The anime Dragon Ball draws significant inspiration from Sun Wukong, as evidenced by its character Son Goku, who inherits traits such as superhuman strength and a tail from the myth. Moreover, Sun Wukong also influences the character of the same name in RWBY.

Abilities Of Monkey king

Beyond his formidable staff, martial arts expertise, and superhuman strength, the Monkey King is distinguished by his wide range of magical powers. Some of these abilities are prominently featured throughout the novel, while others make only brief appearances. These powers were largely honed during his Taoist training with Puti Zushi.

Seventy-two transformations also known as Multitude of Terrestrial Killers. Monkey king learned this power from his master Puti Zushi. Monkey king have choice between select the power of 36 transformation and 72 transformations. It allows the monkey king to transform into virtually anything.

Immortal Breath is monkey king’s magical breath. Which can allows him to transform his hairs and staff, among other such mystic effects as his own spirit, healing wounds or divinely empowering others.

The monkey king’s ability to transform any one of his hairs into whatever he wish. He can create a clone using his hairs. Throughout the novel, the Monkey King primarily uses this power to create clones of himself, often boasting that a single hair can be duplicated into millions or even billions.
