Shanks was never going to hurt Luffy, of course, but he definitely had some fun messing with Bartolomeo. It’s almost like he’s saying, “I know you love Luffy, but let’s see just how much.”
This scene is equal parts hilarious and heartwarming. Shanks might be a troll, but deep down, he’s looking our for his younger pirate pal. Plus, it’s a nice reminder of the loyalty and connections that hold the One Piece world together.
Blackbeard’s Fury and Garp’s Fate
Switching gears, we head back to Hachinosu, where Blackbeard is… not exactly having the best day. He’s raging because Koby (yes, the Koby from Marineford) has escaped his grasp, and he’s not happy with Pizarro for letting Koby escape even though he is literally the island himself lol, but on the other hand Blackbeard is very happy with Kuzan (Aokiji,former admiral) for capturing the Hero of the Marines, Garp.
In true Blackbeard fashion, he’s not just about brute strength. He knows Garp is a powerful bargaining chip, and that’s why he’s so valuable to them. Garp’s capture puts Blackbeard in a prime position for future negotiations, and if we know anything about him, it’s that he’s always thinking two steps ahead.
